Yellowjackets has a lot of buzz around it, attracting 1.5 million viewers to its season 2 finale episode. The Showtime series follows a high school girls’ soccer team who survive a plane crash in the remote wilderness as savage rituals ensue. Twenty-five years later, the ones remaining trace their lives back and realize they never truly left the wild.

The epic conclusion to the second installment shocked viewers with the big reveal of Natalie as the Antler Queen and not Lottie as originally thought. Still, questions linger ... Like, who sent the "Wish You Were Here" postcards? Who's pit girl? While fans stomached another season, they're already hungry for more.

Yes! Last December, Yellowjackets was renewed for another chapter. A "runaway" success for Showtime since its November 2021 debut, the series had executives deciding to "fast track" season 3's green light, per Variety.

What's more, the survival drama plans to endure five seasons. Showrunner and co-creator Ashley Lyle confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that's still the plan, though they'll end the story whenever it feels right.

She told the outlet: "We just want to tell the best story that we can and so that means not rushing, and it also means not dragging things out. And we’ll find the natural conclusion point."

Looks like the gates are closed and everyone's left in the darkness on the official release date. The hit series might not resume its usual schedule amid the ongoing writer's strike, which has caused several shows to delay production.

On May 2, Ashley broke the news on Twitter: "Well, we had exactly one day in the #YellowJackets S3 writers’ room. It was amazing, and creatively invigorating, and so much fun, and I’m very excited to get back to it as soon as the #WGA gets a fair deal. #1u #unionstrong."

One cast member whose return lies in wait is Juliette Lewis. Her character, Natalie, met a tragic end during the season 2 finale when Misty accidentally poisoned her. There's been no word on whether she'll re-appear in some capacity like a flashback in future episodes.

Following episode 10, the actress took to Instagram to express her character's emotional end. "I am beyond moved by the appreciation of my work on @yellowjackets," she wrote in the caption. "I believe this team can literally do and write anything, the chemistry and exquisite talent of this phenomenal — ever-growing — cast is something I will always marvel at."

She added: "You all have my heart. ❤️ Until we meet again."
